Bills are the easiest part of a zero-based budget — and the most dangerous. They are easy because they are fixed; dangerous because, if they are not planned as jobs, they quietly spend the money that was supposed to have one.
Each recurring bill is a job
Rent, utilities, internet, insurance: every bill that reappears gets its own article with the expected amount. When the bill lands, it spends from its own envelope — not from whatever was left over.
Watch the ones that drift
Utilities and variable services are the ones that move month to month. Budget them at a realistic high, and when a month comes in light, the surplus is yours to reassign — at the close, deliberately, never by accident.
Subscriptions are a yearly decision
